Engineering Manager Licences - Guidance
on Writing a Personal Report
You may find it useful as a start to select up to say 6
prime activities you carry out and agree these with your line manager. Then
for each activity you should identify the component tasks, and for each of
these draft a few paragraphs that explain how you carry out the task in the
context of the performance criteria.
For example:
Activity:
Manage safety related failures
Component tasks
· Monitor
Failures
· Decide
what failures to close out
· Investigate
trends
· Request
more information from contractor on fundamental cause
· Propose
projects to address recurring failures
This guidance note suggests a
format for writing the report on how you carry out specific activities to
meet some of the performance criteria.
You should quote examples in your text and refer to itemised pieces of
evidence to support your statements. Samples of evidence (e.g. reports,
minutes of meetings, notes of analysis, letters, Emails etc) should be made
available to your assessor.
Note Units 1 & 2 are for the Engineering
Manager (Lead Engineer) licence and units 3 & 4 for the Engineering
